Our family is totally hooked on audio books. We started with the storytelling ones by the likes of Jim Weiss, then moved on to classic picture books on audio CDs like Winnie the Pooh, the Velveteen Rabbit, then on to other classics like Narnia, Mary Poppins, Peter Pan (which we listened to 3 times in a row!), etc, etc and so forth.
We listen to these in the car and have listened to many classics that way. This has minimised my need to read aloud to the children, especially now that I am time-challenged. I simply looked through their reading list for the year, and where audio CDs were available, I just bought them! Nice thing is we’ve listened to them TOGETHER, which makes for great discussions and shared experiences.
There is a wonderful resource from the National Library which you can go to download audio books for absolutely nothing! Go to www.eresources.nlb.gov.sg and register. Then login, click on “For Children” then click on Overdrive. Browse away! You can download the audio files and burn them onto CDs for your own personal use also. Please don’t ask me how to do it, because I never could figure it out. *grin*
If you want to find something quick without having to go through the whole registering process, you will find lots of great stuff on the following sites:

Happy Listening!

We also listen to audio CDs in the car. They are really fantastic. We started with Winnie the Pooh, Peter Dennis is really a genius! Now when we or my daughter read the book, we also read it with a lot of animation! That’s really a lot more fun.
We also find Jim Weiss very good. We all enjoyed listening to him.

We had so much fun listening to Jim Weiss audio books bought from Home Library. Daniel loves to mimic the storyteller and I must say he is really entertaining. Thanks for the links. Will definitely check them out.
